At Jarga, we are committed to preserving traditional African design techniques while creating and sustaining ethical artisanal jobs in The Gambia.
By blending cultural heritage with luxury craftsmanship, we ensure that every bag not only tells a story — but also supports a thriving, sustainable future for local artisans.
Rooted in Heritage, Crafted for the World
With over a decade of manufacturing experience in Europe, Jarga made a bold and intentional move in 2019 — relocating its entire production home to The Gambia. This vision had long been a cherished dream: to create a luxury handbag brand that empowers African artisans, celebrates culture, and revives traditional craftsmanship on a global stage.

At Jarga, we believe in the power of local impact and ethical luxury. Our decision to produce exclusively in The Gambia is more than a business model — it's a mission to invest in community development, preserve African design heritage, and build a thriving future for SeneGambian artisans.
Every Jarga piece is locally made, ethically sourced, and 100% handmade, crafted with care by skilled artisans using techniques passed down through generations. The result is a collection of African luxury bags that honor tradition while meeting the highest standards of quality and style.

Deeply intertwined with culture, each Jarga bag is a tribute to the beauty of African fashion, the elegance of intentional design, and the richness of Gambian craftsmanship. By working exclusively with local artisans, we ensure that every product is an authentic reflection of our roots — made with purpose, pride, and precision.
Preserving Craft. Empowering Artisans. Celebrating Africa.

Jarga’s mission is to preserve traditional African design practices while creating sustainable jobs for artisans in The Gambia.
Through each handcrafted piece, we aim to rewrite the global narrative of African luxury — one bag at a time.
